Me, painting in the U.S. Capitol on March 7, 2024 (Photo by Graeme Sloan)

About Pablo

By day I cover Congress for Capitol Press, Vanity Fair, The New Republic, The Intercept, Texas Monthly, and other news outlets. By night, I’m a self-taught oil painter specializing in political portraits.

Born in Chile and raised in Missouri, I studied political science and history at Notre Dame where I was an average student who talked entirely too much and should have done a lot more reading.

When I’m not arting in Blagden or breaking news on Capitol Hill, I watch movies and walk my good queen Roxy, an angel I adopted from the wonderful team at Petey and Furends.
